Jolly Hammers and Strings
The Jolly Hammers and Strings Dulcimer
Club is a music organization sponsored by the Folk Music Society. The above photo was taken at a the filming of a promotional video for use by MCTV (the local public access television channel). The
club presents an opportunity primarily for hammered dulcimer players but also includes autoharp, fiddle, banjo,
mandolin, guitar, bass and other acoustic instrument players of all
skill levels to get together on a monthly basis. The group is
especially welcoming to new players. The club has its own website where you can check on the activities of Jolly Hammers in calendar format. It is located at: http://jollyhammersplus.com
Cloggers and an audience are always welcome. The
get-togethers are generally the fourth Saturdays (but often the third Saturday) of the month September-May at the Chippewa Nature Center, from 1 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. (NOTE: The Chippewa Nature Center is currently under renovation so the monthly gatherings have temporarily moved.) Refreshments are served. These are always free and fun. For further information and to confirm the dates, you can e-mail JollyHammers@folkmusicsociety.org, or call (989) 835-5085.
